It's time for tea tree oil!

We are beginning a new season...a beautiful one to boot. Leaves are falling, the air is crisp and cold. And if you live here in the great Northwest you would know that the rain is relentless.

This beautiful time of year also brings the not so beautiful. Runny noses and coughs. Keeping the house clean of germs and washing your hand frequently (as well as the kiddos hands) will help prevent the "colds" from getting in.

Forget about using nasty chemicals like bleach or any other harsh disinfectants. Try using some Tea tree oil! Tea tree oil is perfect for cleaning around the house. This amazing 100% natural oil is a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-infection, disinfectant oil. It can also be used on nails to cure fungus growing!

Here is a recipe to have on hand for the next time you need to disinfect!

Get a clean empty spray bottle
Add two teaspoons of tea tree oil
Add two cups of water
Put lid on bottle and shake
Spray problem areas- Do not rinse

This mixture has no expiration date once mixed :)

NOTE**
Tea tree oil can be very harmful if not used properly. Please refer to this safety guide!

Skin Patch Test

Caution: Those with sensitive skin are encouraged to test tea tree oil by applying a small amount to the inner arm. Any allergic reaction or irritation will manifest within a few minutes. Dilute tea tree oil in an equal quantify of carrier oil or mix it with alcohol and water before trying another patch test. Allergic reactions to tea tree oil are unusual; reactions to diluted tea tree oil are rare. Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs.

Caution: Under no circumstances is tea tree oil to be taken internally.

Always: Keep Out of the reach of children as tea tree oil can be fatel if ingested.



Emergency First Aid

Using Common Sense:


It is important to use common sense when using any herbs or essential oils such as tea tree oil. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use.

Eye Contact:


Remove contact lense, flush with cool water for 15 minutes. If irritation persists, Call a Physician Immediatly

Skin Irritation:


Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with mild soap and water

Ingestion:


Rinse mouth, Do not Induce Vomiting, Call a Physician Immediatly

Internal Use :


Do not take internally. This precaution doe's not include using tea tree oil with toothpaste, mouthwash "without swallowing"

Children:


Keep out of the reach of children at all times.

Babies:


Do not use undiluted oil on the skin of babies. Dilute with cold-pressed oils such as "olive, apricot, almond or avocado oil" before putting on babies skin.

Irritation:

If rash or irritation occurs, discontinue use. Note: For sensitive areas such as around the eyes, mouth or genitals; dilute tea tree oil with vodka or everclear, or a good grade of cold-pressed oils such as olive, apricot, almond or avocado oil.
Pregnant Woman: Pregnant woman should always take extra precaution, Always consult a Physician before using.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, Call a Physician Immediately
Storage: Always keep tea tree oil in amber colored bottles and out of direct sunlight. "Never plastic bottles". Cap should be tightly closed to avoid evaporation. Shelf life is 2-3 years when properly stored.
